Credit Cards: Curse or Blessing? [see update below]

Credit cards can be either. They have been both in our family. Here is the problem. Young people in college are deluged with credit card offers even though they are not earning money. It is SO easy to obtain credit cards, not keep track of your spending on them because nothing leaves your wallet that doesn't get back in there later, that they can be a curse.
